APTMetrics Receives Impactful Organization of the Year Award

Blacks in Industrial Organizational Psychology (BIOP) is a professional networking and learning non-profit for Black Industrial-Organizational (I-O) psychologists, practitioners and students. They strive to provide career development opportunities and increase the presence of Blacks in the I-O psychology industry through the facilitation of networking events, seminars and strategic alliances.

On Friday 21 February 2025, at the annual BIOP awards gala, Dr. John C. Scott, co-CEO of APTMetrics, was presented with the BIOP Impactful Organization of the Year award on behalf of the company.

The BIOP Awards committee stated, “This distinguished honor recognizes your exceptional contributions to advancing the presence and impact of Blacks in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. Your commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field is truly inspiring and worthy of celebration.”

 

 

 

Our History with BIOP

In the late spring of 2023, John Scott and Keith Caver met with BIOP’s visionary co-founders, Macy Cheeks and Shavonne Holman, to learn about their new organizations’ charter and creative plans to further advance, expand, and build interest and value in the practice of I-O psychology.

As a result of that extremely fruitful discussion, John, on behalf of APT, pledged support on several fronts ranging from sponsorship of BIOP’s inaugural annual conference, commitment to submit a proposal for presentation consideration, offering to provide a “meaningful” APT summer internship experience, and proposing opportunities to partner on future relevant research.

BIOP’s founders shared that APT’s early commitment and contributions were instrumental in helping them secure support from other distinguished sponsors. In addition, Bob Lewis, John Scott, and Keith Caver delivered a well-received presentation at the BIOP inaugural conference entitled “Putting a Diversity Lens on Talent Management Practices.”

Our CHRO, Rebecca Parry, has led the ongoing activities between BIOP and APTMetrics, with recruiting being a top priority. Bob Lewis, our Chief Assessor, has also played a crucial role in identifying and onboarding our exceptionally talented 2024 BIOP summer intern, who recently transitioned to a full-time employee.

Overall, these are just some of the ways in which our relationship with BIOP has enriched both organizations and why we are so excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. We are proud and honored by this exciting and important recognition.
